PLAY OF THE GAME: After a Laney touchdown, one Tiger coach took his rant too far, notching two personal foul penalties and getting ejected from the game. Laney (7-3) kicked off from the Swainsboro 30-yard line, booting it into the end zone for a touchback.
PLAYER OF THE GAME: The Laney run game. The line consistently got a good push on the snap, creating major gaps in the Tiger defense for George Myers (13 rushes for 132 yards, 3 TDs) and Leo Myers (12 rushes for 97 yards, 2 TDs) to do their damage.
WHY LANEY WON: Ball control. Laney dominated the line of scrimmage on both sides.
WHY SWAINSBORO LOST: Whether it was an inability to create running lanes on offense or stop the run defensively, nothing went the Tigers’ way.
QUOTABLE: “Our kids are excited. They’ve been talking about the playoffs for a while, and to be able to host the first home playoff game at Lucy C. Laney Memorial Stadium is a testament to our seniors’ leadership and team effort this season.” – Laney coach Lemuel Lackey
NEXT: Morgan County at Laney, 7:30 p.m., Friday; Swainsboro ends at 3-7.
