Red Devils get victory on the road

ABBEVILLE, S.C. — Lincoln County passed its first road test of the season on Friday night.

The Red Devils shut down Abbeville in the second half en route to a 24-13 victory.

Lincoln County, which routed Harlem in its season opener last week, got a 20-yard touchdown pass from Denzel Gunby to Mason Saggus to take the lead in the third quarter. Dayshawn Taylor sealed the win with a 1-yard touchdown run late in the fourth quarter.

Abbeville, the defending Class A state champions in South Carolina, racked up 213 yards on the ground.

The Red Devils had 125 yards rushing.

In Gibson, Ga., Jabari Wilson and Devarius Davis ran wild in Warren County’s rout of Glascock County.

Wilson rushed for 215 yards and had three touchdowns. Davis racked up 208 yards and also had three scores for the Screaming Devils.

Warren County totaled 452 yards on the ground, while the Panthers were held to 116.

The lone bright spot for Glascock County was a 60-yard touchdown run by Lewis Watkins in the fourth quarter. Watkins finished with 66 yards rushing, a team high.

In Warrenton, Ga., Edmund Burke jumped out to an early lead and then blew the game open in the second quarter, routing Briarwood.

Michael Taylor had three first-half touchdowns as the Spartans took a 29-7 lead into the locker room.

Edmund Burke added touchdown runs from Bryce Sowell and Logan Christian in the second half to cap off the win.

The Spartans finished with 304 yards rushing in the contest.

Briarwood had 233 yards on the ground, led by Michael Kent with 68.
