Butler clinches winning season

Tayari Thompson scored on a pair of 5-yard runs to lead Butler to a 24-14 victory over Glenn Hills on Friday night.

Thompson finished with 60 yards on 10 carries, and the Bulldogs (6-2) clinched a winning season after beginning the year on a 41-game losing streak.

Jeffrey Menefee had 103 yards on ground for Butler, which faces Burke County next week in a game it must win if it's to earn a playoff berth.

PELION, S.C. --- Cordrea Tankersley scored four touchdowns for Silver Bluff, and the Bulldogs rolled to a 35-13 win on Friday night that secured the Region 5-AA title.

Tankersley rushed for 121 yards on only nine carries for Silver Bluff, which won its 10th region crown in 12 years.

Featuring a young offensive line that has carried the Bulldogs all season long, Silver Bluff racked up 249 rushing yards.

Shaquez Wright had 62 yards rushing and Andre Washington added 56 yards and a touchdown for the Bulldogs.

Jamar Pontoon had 91 yards on the ground for Pelion.

Me being a 2008 Graduate of Burke County and a former football player. We havent lost to Butler ever!!! I do not think we are about to this friday. Keep up the good work Coach Parker and players keep working hard. GO BEARS!!!!
