Hornets' defense slows Mustangs

PLAY OF THE GAME: Aiken's Devon Johnson made the play of the night. With 5:41 left in the first half, he hauled in a long pass that went for 57 yards to put the Hornets up 13-3 at the half.

STAR OF THE GAME: Devontai Pope ran the ball hard all night for Aiken. He finished with 132 yards and two touchdowns.

WHY AIKEN WON: The Hornets have a solid running game that Midland Valley couldn't slow down.

WHY MIDLAND VALLEY LOST: The Mustangs didn't take advantage of a few Aiken miscues and were too predictable on offense. Midland Valley could muster only 128 yards rushing and 35 passing.
