Marist is 'smoking' in meet

More than 400 of Georgia's top high school swimmers competed in the Panther Wolfpack Invitational Swim Meet at the Augusta Aquatics Center Saturday.

Among them were former Lakeside standout Lauren Plowman, who now swims for Marist Academy, and current Panthers star Eric Chui.

Plowman, who has committed to South Carolina, took three events, including the 200-yard IM, 200-yard medley relay and the 400-yard freestyle relay.

In all, Marist took home nine of the meet's 23 events.

"Marist was just smoking. They were really impressive," said Chris Baum, vice president of the Lakeside booster club.

Chiu, a Georgia Tech signee, took first in the 100-yard butterfly, 200-yard freestyle and was an important cog in the Panthers victorious 200-yard medley relay team.

Evans' Ben Miller took the 100-yard backstroke.
