The GreenJackets (29-19) wrapped up the series with three errors, and the Braves (20-27) scored two unearned runs in the 5-4 Rome victory. Augusta starter B.J. Salsbury (4-3) pitched into the eighth inning for the fourth consecutive time and enjoyed a 4-3 lead after seven innings. But the quick-working right-hander gave up the lead in the top of the eighth by allowing two runs on two hits after a two-out error from third baseman Chris Dominguez kept the inning alive.
Rome reliever Jeff Lorick (1-0) got the win by pitching a scoreless seventh. Thomas Berryhill followed by retiring six of the seven batters he faced over the final two innings for the save.
GreenJackets starting shortstop Sharlon Schoop had to be carried off the field in the the bottom of the seventh after he was injured in a collision at second base. The GreenJackets were already playing without starting catcher Tommy Joseph, who left Wednesday's game with a head injury and isn't expected to return to action for at least two more days.
