Ian Poulter ousted in match-play event

KAVARNA, Bulgaria — Ian Poulter was eliminated from the World Match Play Championship after losing another round-robin match Friday.

Poulter lost to Thomas Aiken, 1 up, at the Thracian Cliffs course.

Poulter lost to Thongchai Jaidee on Thursday. On Friday morning, Jaidee beat Aiken, 1 up.

Jaidee is one of only four players to win both early matches, joining Francesco Molinari, Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano and former Augusta State golfer Scott Jamieson.

LPGA TOUR: In Mobile, Ala., Jessica Korda shot 7-under 65 on Friday to take a one-stroke lead over Hall of Famer Karrie Webb after the second round of the Mobile Bay LPGA Classic.

Korda reached 13 under on The Crossings course at the Magnolia Grove complex.

EUROPEAN TOUR: In Santo da Serra, Madeira Islands, Craig Lee took a one-stroke lead over American Peter Uihlein and Chile’s Mark Tullo on Friday during the suspended second round of the Madeira Islands Open.

Lee shot 4-under 68 to reach 9-under 135 at Santo da Serra Golf Club.

WEB.COM TOUR: Franklin Corpening posted 6-under 66 at Lake Keowee. to take a one-shot lead at the BMW Charity Pro-Am.

Corpening is at 15-under 128 for the tournament, which is being played at three different courses in South Carolina.

Aiken’s Kevin Kisner shot 64 at Lake Keowee and is in sixth place at 131, Augusta’s Scott Parel had 70 at Lake Keowee and is tied for 43rd and Aiken’s Matt Hendrix had 70 at Greenville Country Club and is tied for 135th.
