Former Auburn golfer Blayne Barber will carry a two-shot lead into today’s final round of the Savannah Lakes Village Classic.
Barber, who played on the Walker Cup team last year, shot 2-under-par 70 on Saturday and is at 9-under 207 at the Monticello course.
Hendrix shot 73 and is in second place.
Second-round leader Jon Curran had 75 and is in third place, three shots back.
Barber made news back in the fall in the first stage of the PGA Tour Qualifying Tournament. He had advanced to the second stage even with a one-shot penalty he called on himself when he thought he brushed a leaf in a bunker in the final round.
Six days later he realized it should have been a two-shot penalty and alerted tournament officials. He was then disqualified for signing an incorrect scorecard.
