Matt NeSmith receives another honor from SEC

South Carolina freshman and North Augusta native Matt NeSmith has been named the Southeastern Conference Co-Freshman Golfer of the Week, the league office announced Wednesday.

It marks the third time that NeSmith has won the award this season.

NeSmith recorded his fourth consecutive top-10 finish and his sixth of the season with a tie for eighth place at the Insperity Augusta State Invitational last weekend.

He finished the tournament with a 54-hole total of 2-under 214 , which included a career-low 67 in the first round, and led the Gamecocks to a fifth-place finish.

NeSmith lowered his scoring average to 73.04, which ranks second in the conference among freshmen and is fifth all-time for a freshman at South Carolina.
