Bernhard Langer takes three-shot lead at Champions Tour event

NAPLES, Fla. — Bernhard Langer posted 2-under 70 to take a three-shot lead after the second round of the Champions Tour’s ACE Group Classic on Saturday.

Langer, who had 10-under 62 in the first round, picked up where he left off with a birdie on his first hole. He made 11 consecutive pars after that, birdied No. 13, and had a par on the last five holes. He is at 12-under 132 at the TwinEagles Club.

Taiwan’s Chien Soon Lu and Tom Pernice Jr., who was runner-up last week in Boca Raton, Fla., are tied for second at 9-under 135.

The 55-year-old Langer won this event in 2011 and was runner-up last year.

Mark O’Meara was next at 8 under. Mark Wiebe, Jay Don Blake and John Huston are another stroke back.

LPGA TOUR: In Canberra, Australia, Jiyai Shin and 15-year-old amateur Lydia Ko both shot rounds of 3-under 70 to surge six shots clear of the field heading into the final day of the Women’s Australian Open.

Ko jumped to an early lead at Royal Canberra with birdies on the second, fourth and sixth holes. She allowed Shin to retake a share of the lead with bogeys on No. 12 and 14 before making another birdie on the final hole to finish 17-under 202.

EUROPEAN TOUR: In East London, South Africa, Darren Fichardt shot 7-under-par 65 to tie Jaco Van Zyl for the lead after three rounds of the Africa Open.

Van Zyl, who began the day three back of Adilson Da Silva, shot 68 and is tied with Fichardt at 15-under 201 at East London Golf Club.

Da Silva, who led after the first and second rounds, shot 73 to drop two back.
