LA QUINTA, Calif. — Evans resident Vaughn Taylor and Aiken native Kevin Kisner are one round from earning their PGA Tour cards for the 2013 season.
Taylor and Kisner are tied for 17th heading into Monday’s sixth and final round of the PGA Tour Qualifying Tournament.
Kisner (67 on Sunday) and Taylor (73) are at 16-under 344.
The final top 25 and ties after Monday's play will receive PGA Tour cards and the next 50 and ties will earn Web.com Tour cards.
Former Augusta State golfers Patrick Reed and Henrik Norlander both shot 68 on Sunday and are tied for 46th at 12-under. Aiken’s Stephen Poole (68) is tied for 116th at 4-under, while Augusta’s Scott Parel (78) and North Augusta’s Scott Brown (70) are tied for 160th at 7-over.
Steven Bowditch shot 64 to take a one-stroke lead after the fifth round.
Bowditch has a 23-under 337 total. Kris Blanks is second after 66, and Derek Ernst (66), Steve LeBrun (67) and Edward Loar (68) followed at 21-under.
Robert Karlsson, an 11-time winner on the European Tour winner, and Ross Fisher, a four-time European Tour winner, are in a group tied for 11th at 18-under. Karlsson shot 68, and Fisher had 67.
Two-time heart transplant recipient Erik Compton is tied for 15th at 17-under after 67. Tom Pernice, the oldest player in the field at 53, also is 17-under after 68.
Camilo Villegas, a three-time PGA Tour winner, had 73 to drop from a tie for 20th to a tie for 46th at 12-under.
