Robinson, of Sandersville, Ga., shot 7-under-par 63 in the second round at Florence (S.C.) Country Club to move from a tie for 59th after an opening 74 to a tie for 11th. The top 17 advance to the second stage after 72 holes.
Norlander, a former Augusta State golfer who lives in Augusta, shot a third-round 6-under 66 at The Lakes at Castle Hills in Lewisville, Texas. Norlander, who was tied for 26th after opening rounds of 72-73, is now fifth. The top 18 advance from this stage.
In a second stage event in Kingwood, Texas, former Augusta State All-American Patrick Reed, who now lives in Spring, Texas, should have no trouble advancing.
Reed, who was tied for the lead after rounds of 69-63, had 65 on Thursday and now leads by four shots. Roger Furrer, another former Jaguar playing at this site, has shot 76-69-70 and is tied for 39th place.
Wallace Booth, a former Augusta State golfer who is playing at the same site as Norlander, shot 76 and is tied for 30th place.
Mitch Krywulycz, another ex-Jaguar, shot 3-over 75 in the second round at Callaway Gardens in Pine Mountain, Ga., and is tied for 57th place. The top 18 advance.
Other area players are Stephen Poole (tied for 21st at Florence after 71), Garland Smith (tied for 56th after 74 at Florence), Scott Usher (tied for 61st at Florence after 74) and Brad Arrington (tied for 70th at Pensacola after 9-over 79 in the third round).
