North Augusta’s Matt NeSmith finishing tied for fourth in The Players Amateur in Bluffton, S.C., after Sunday’s final round was canceled because of rain and the tournament shortened to 54 holes.

NeSmith, 18, shot 69-74-70 at Berkeley Hall.

Australia’s 21-year-old Daniel Nisbet, who led University of Alabama golfer Bobby Wyatt by one shot after 54 holes, picked up the victory and earned a spot in the PGA Tour’s RBC Heritage in April.

Nisbet appeared on his way to an easy victory when the rains came. He had built a six-shot lead after 10 holes on Sunday was play was suspended. The round was canceled 90 minutes later.
