Robinson, Manning in contention

Two golfers with area ties are in the top 15 after two rounds of the eGolf Tour’s Southern Open, which is being played at two courses near Charlotte, N.C.

David Robinson, of Sandersville, Ga., shot 6-under-par 65 on Thursday and is at tied for 14th place at 7-under 135. Also at 135 is former Augusta College golfer Major Manning, who had 66.
Henrik Norlander, another former Augusta State golfer, had 69 and is tied for 49th. He made the cut on the number at 138.

Missing the cut were Augustans Brad Arrington (71-72–143) and Mitch Krywulycz (71-78–149).
Former Virginia Tech golfer Drew Weaver had 67 and is leading at 129, but the story of the day was former University of Rhode Island golfer Michael Sims, who shot a tour-record 59 at Country Club of Salisbury.

Sims, who opened with 71, is in second place, one behind Weaver.
