Proveaux holds early lead at Sage Valley

GRANITEVILLE — Cody Proveaux birdied four of his last five holes today to shoot 66 and take the early lead in the second annual Junior Invitational at Sage Valley.

Proveaux, an 18-year-old from Leesville, S.C., started off with a three-putt bogey but rallied to post the top score so far.

He holds a two-shot lead over Jonathan Sanders, an 18-year-old from Chatsworth, Calif., and Emil Sogaard, a 16-year-old from Denmark. Both shot 4-under 68s.

The tournament features 54 of the world’s top junior golfers.

Matt NeSmith of North Augusta is 1-over thru 16 holes and Greyson Sigg of Augusta is 4-over after 14 holes.
