Swainsboro native maintains lead in Tour qualifier

LaQUINTA, Calif. --- Three area players remain in the top 10 after two rounds of the six-round PGA Tour Qualifying Tournament.

Swainsboro, Ga., native Will Claxton, who was tied for the lead after Day 1, is now the solo leader. He’s shot 64-70. Evans resident Vaughn Taylor (65-72) is tied for fifth place and Aiken resident Kevin Kisner (67-71) is tied for ninth place.

Augusta resident Scott Parel is tied for 57th place after rounds of 71-72. And Aiken native Matt Hendrix, who opened with 68, had 76 today and is tied for 81st place.

All five of the local players in the tournament played the TPC Stadium Course today.

The top 25 finishers and ties earn their PGA Tour cards for the 2012 season.
