I guess the second fan got the message after seeing what happened to the first one. LOL.
PONTE VEDRA, Fla. -- Drinking and golf didn't mix for a Jacksonville man attending The Players Championship on Friday.
Travis Parmelee, 36, was shocked with a Taser and arrested after becoming belligerent with hole marshals and St. Johns County sheriff's deputies. He was charged with disorderly intoxication and resisting arrest without violence.
Capt. Dave Messenger of the Sheriff's Office said marshals on hole No. 11 called police around 5 p.m. to deal with a man who was being uncooperative and argumentative. Messenger said the suspect would not calm down and became even more belligerent when talking with police officers.
When police tried to arrest the suspect, he resisted and officers were forced to Tase him to subdue him, Messenger said.
"We try to get people to comply," Messenger said. "Oftentimes if they comply, we'll make them leave. That's our goal."
Messenger said the man had been drinking.
Police were dispatched to deal with another troublesome fan shortly after Parmelee's arrest, but Messenger said the fan immediately calmed down when officers arrived and agreed to leave the tournament peacefully. He was escorted out.
"I'd rather do that [than arrest someone]," Messenger said.
The PGA Tour released a statement reiterating its position of not tolerating any unruly behavior at any tournament: "The Tour's position is and has always been that anything that disrupts the competition or the enjoyment of our fans will be dealt with accordingly, as was the case today."

Behave not that hard
I'd have to get drunk just to wear that butt ugly shirt he's got on!
Police had to Tase a non-violent person????
KSL, although I often agree with your posts, to answer your question, just as the article did....This individual was disorderly and unruely in public, would not comply with officials at the course in charge to the point that they had to call the police. The police asked him to leave and again he refused to listen to authority and contiuned to disrupt the environment, etc. They then attempted to arrest him to which he also refused and resisted. Have you ever tried to handcuff or arrest someone who does not want to be arrested? Would you prefer the police end up rolling around on the ground trying to arrest him? Would you prefer they use their batons on him or OC Spray? Maybe since he didn't want to cooperate and leave or be arrested we should just allow him to stay and do as he pleases? The man should not have been disorderly to begin with, then when requested by officials should have complied, then when requested to leave by police should have left then when told he was being arrested should have complied but instead on all counts, HE chose his fate. Then, when assisting arrest, the officers chose the least lethal method of arresting someone who does not wish to be arrested which is to tase him. Far more injuires occur by trying to forceably arrest a subject or fighting with him, not only to the subject but also to our officers who frankly should not have to subject theirselves to any unnecessary reason for injury and since you have a taser, fighting with a suspect isn't necessary. The police are more than justified in their actions and this idiot certainly asked for what he got, and then some. It's pretty simple, behave in public, follow the rules of wherever you are and if it comes to the point that those in charge of the venue have to call the police, you had better do as you are told or you will end up going to jail and if you try to resist that as well, you certainly may get to feel what a taser feels like. BTW, any officer who carries a taser on his/her person has already been tased theirselves in class at the full setting which is used while on duty and yes, tasers are far safer for the suspect and officer than most any other option - other than actually following the law of course.
