Former Augusta State star Oliver Wilson hits from an awkward stance in the bunker on the 14th hole during his third round match against Luke Donald in the Match Play Championship on Friday. Wilson defeated Donald on the 20th hole.

Wilson beat Luke Donald to advance to the quarterfinals of the Accenture Match Play Championship in Marana, Ariz.

Wilson, seeded 10th in the Hogan Bracket, was 1 up entering the 17th.. Donald, seeded sixth, made a 91/2-foot birdie to square their match heading into the 18th. Wilson hit his approach shot within tap in, but Donald drained a 50-foot birdie putt to extend their match.

"A bit harsh, I thought," Wilson said.

Two holes later, Wilson eagled the par-5 second hole to win the match, making a nearly-as-difficult putt from 38 feet, then won the match when Donald missed a 12-footer.

"If I'd have missed (the 38-footer) I think he would have holed that," Wilson said, "so it needed to get done, and it was nice to get it over with."
