*Texas seeks 11th straight non-conference win*
Arkansas (2-0) at No. 8 Texas (2-0), 3:30 pm EDT
AUSTIN, Texas (Ticker) -- Texas has not lost a non-conference game since falling to top-ranked Ohio State in September 2006, the year after the Longhorns won their last national championship.
Eighth-ranked Texas looks to extend that streak Saturday when it hosts former Southwest Conference rival Arkansas, which has opened the season with a pair of unimpressive wins.
The Longhorns (2-0) have won 10 straight non-conference games, matching their longest streak under coach Mack Brown. They also won 10 in a row outside the Big 12 Conference from 2001-2003.
Last week, Texas spoiled a festive atmosphere at Texas-El Paso, routing the Miners, 42-13, in the first meeting between the schools since 1933.
Colt McCoy played a nearly flawless game for the Longhorns, passing for 282 yards and four touchdowns before a record crowd of 53,415 at the Sun Bowl. Quan Cosby caught eight passes for 154 yards and a touchdown for Texas.
Arkansas rallied for a 28-27 victory over Louisiana-Monroe to improve to 2-0 under new coach Bobby Petrino.
It marked the second time in as many games that the Razorbacks erased a deficit with a touchdown on their final possession. Arkansas opened with a 28-24 victory over Eastern Illinois of the Football Championship Subdivision.
However, the Razorbacks are about to get a dose reality as they begin a brutal stretch in which they will play Texas, Alabama, Florida and Auburn in consecutive games. All four teams are ranked in the top 16.
Texas and Arkansas have not met since 2004, when the Longhorns posted a 22-20 victory. Texas avenged a 38-28 loss to an unranked Arkansas team the previous season in Austin.
