USC Aiken golfers take title

In Akron, Ohio, USC Aiken’s golf team turned in the low round of the day to rally for a victory in the 54-hole Firestone Invitational.

The Pacers, who trailed by nine shots entering the final round, closed with 6-under-par 282 to win by two shots over Washington State.

USC Aiken counted 5-under-par 67 by Brandon Robinson-Thompson, 70 by Kyle Godsman, 72 by Andrew Ward and a 73 (both Hayden Letien and Stephane Boudreau shot that score).

Letien tied for third overall at 2-under 214, seven shots behind the winner, Stuart Grehan, of Eastern Michigan.

Robinson-Thompson tied for eighth place at 216, Godsman tied for 13th at 218, Ward tied for 47th at 225 and Boudreau tied for 52nd place 226.
