Pacers eighth in golf regional

HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. – Third-ranked USC Aiken is in eighth place after two rounds of the NCAA Division II South/Southeast Regional on the par-72, 6,928-yard El Campeon course at the Mission Inn Resort & Club.

The Pacers followed their opening-round 295 on Monday with 303 on Tuesday and are at 598 with one round to play.

Top-ranked Nova Southeastern leads at 571 (287-284). Second-ranked Barry is next at 580 (284-296).

USC Aiken is two shots behind Columbus State and West Florida, who are tied for sixth.

The top seven teams and top two players not with a team after stroke play advance to the finals May 20-24 in Hershey, Pa.

JP Solis shot 2-under 70 on Tuesday to lead USC Aiken and is in third place at 142. Matt Atkins (82) is at 152, Mark Dickson (77) is at 153 and Taylor Welborn (76) and Hayden Letien (80) are at 157.

Nova Southeastern’s Ricardo Celia (69-72) and Ben Taylor (70-71) are tied for the individual lead at 141.
