Pacer golfers lead PBC Tournament

In Pine Mountain, Ga., third-ranked USC Aiken holds a seven-shot lead after the 36-hole first day of the Peach Belt Conference Tournament at Mountain View Course at Callaway Gardens.

The Pacers were in third place after 12-over-par 300 in the morning round.

But behind Matt Atkins’ career-best 7-under-par 65 and J.P. Solis’ 69, USC Aiken shot 282 in the afternoon to take the lead.

Columbus State (298-291) and Georgia Southwestern (297-292) are tied for second place.

The final round, consisting of 18 holes, will be today.

Atkins (78-65–143) and Solis (74-69–143) are tied for second place individually, behind Columbus State’s Bryan Lichimo (73-69–142).

USC Aiken’s Mark Dickson is tied for fifth individually at  71-73–144.

Taylor Welborn (77-76–153) is tied for 31st and Hayden Letien (79-75–154) is tied for 35th.
