USC Aiken rides red-hot shooting to win over Winston-Salem State

In Aiken, USC Aiken used a red-hot shooting night to stay unbeaten Monday.

Ronald Zimmerman scored 28 points, including seven 3-pointers, as the Pacers picked up a 98-84 win over Winston-Salem State at the convocation center.

USC Aiken (2-0) made 30 of 49 shots from the field (61.2 percent) and were 14 of 19 (73.7 percent) from behind the arc. The 3-point shooting percentage was a school record.

Jesse Seilern had 19 points, reserve Kinley Branch added 16 and newcomer Santoine Butler, a former Cross Creek standout, posted 14 for the Pacers. Re’Mon Nelson posted a double-double with 12 points and 11 assists.

Wykevin Bazemore and Tyre Desmore led the Rams (1-2) with 13 points apiece.

The two teams will meet again in Winston-Salem, N.C., on Nov. 28.
