USC Aiken golfers struggle

 In Kiawah Island, S.C,. USC Aiken finished 14th in their season-opener at The Ocean Course.

The Pacers, who started the season ranked fifth in NCAA Division II, were 14th after Monday’s first round and stayed there after a 36-hole windup in the Invitational at The Ocean Course on Tuesday.

The Pacers, who were led by Matt Atkins, shot 307-317-311–935.

Atkins shot 77-76-77–230 to tie for 18th place.

JP Solis (76-81-75–232) tied for 27th place, Andrew Ward (78-79-80–237) tied for 44th place, Hayden Letien (76-83-81–240) tied for 59th place, Taylor Welborn (84-81-79–244) tied for 70th place and Gaines Milliner (81-84-87–257) tied for 87th place.

Florida (289-288-305–882) claimed the team title by 24 shots over Texas-Arlington (310-292-304)–906).
