USC Aiken's run ended by Lander

Former Glenn Hills standout Ciara Lyons had 24 points, Shannon McKever added 24 and the sixth-ranked Lander women eliminated No. 8 USC Aiken with an 85-68 victory in the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional on Saturday in Morrow, Ga.

The Lady Pacers (27-6) saw their season, during which they set a school record for victories, come to a close.

Lander (29-3) advances to the championship game of the regional on Monday, where it will face second-ranked and top-seeded Clayton State, a 97-71 winner over fifth-seeded Barton on Saturday.

USC Aiken shot 37.7 percent (20 for 53) from the field. Lander was 45.2 percent (28 for 62) from the field.

Peach Belt Conference Freshman of the Year Kayla Harris led the way for the Lady Pacers with 15 points. She also grabbed eight rebounds.

All-Conference performer Hannah DeGraffinreed added 14 points. She was 8 for 8 from the free-throw line.

Senior guard Nakia Pinkney ended her USC Aiken career by scoring 14 points.
