Lions knocked out by Benedict

OZARK, Ala. Benedict College scored eight runs over the final three innings to break the game open and beat Paine College 13-6 on Friday, eliminating the Lions from the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament.

The Tigers (28-12) led only 5-4 entering the seventh before scoring five times in the inning. Benedict added a run in the eighth and two in the ninth.

Jocquese Brunson drove in four runs to lead Benedict.

Luis Serrano went 3 for 5 with three RBI for Paine (19-22-1). William VanWinkle was 4 for 4 with an RBI.

John Hyer took the loss, allowing seven earned runs and 10 hits in six innings.
