Benedict ousts Paine in SIAC semifinals

ATLANTA — Paine College's run in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament game to an end in the semifinals Friday night.

Two-time conference player of the year Marcus Goode had a double-double with 15 points and 14 rebounds as Benedict eliminated the Lions with 68-55 victory at Forbes Arena.

Rickie Jackson had a game-high 16 points and former Laney standout Xavier Collier added 15 for the Tigers (22-6), who led by as many as 19 in the second half after leading by just a point at halftime.

Former Glenn Hills standout Jerel Stephenson and Taylor Kedric had 12 points apiece for the Lions (14-15).

Benedict will take on Morehouse in tonight's title game. The Maroon Tigers topped Tuskegee, 63-58.
