Benedict's Marcus Goode stars in win over Paine

COLUMBIA — Benedict senior Marcus Goode proved again Saturday why he is two-time reigning Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Men’s Player of the Year.

Goode had game highs in points (26), rebounds (13) and blocks (six) as the Tigers claimed a 70-64 win over Paine College.

Goode, a 6-foot-10, 295-pound center, leads the league in rebounding at 8.8 a game and blocks at 3.4.

Former Laney standout Xavier Collier added 13 points for Benedict (13-6, 9-2). Tydrian Beaty chipped in with 10.

Mario Jordan scored 21 points to lead Paine (8-12, 6-6), which has dropped four of six. Kedric Taylor had 13 points and Sean Morgan added 12.
