Jaguar women fail to advance in golf

CLE ELUM, Wash. — The Georgia Regents women shot a final-round 311 and finished 11th in the NCAA Division I West Regional on the Tumble Creek Club at Suncadia Resort.

The Jaguars needed to finish in the top eight to advance to the NCAA Championships, but finished eight strokes out of eighth place at 922.

Clemson shot 315 and finished 13th at 929.

Southern Cal won the regional with 876.

Arizona State’s Noemi Jimenez shot 72 to finish at 213 and claim medalist honors by two strokes.

Casey Kennedy also had 72 and tied for 17th at 225 to lead Georgia Regents. Eunice Yi (78) tied for 22nd at 226, Josefine Nyqvist (81) tied for 61st at 235, Jessica Haigwood (80) tied for 68th at 236 and Shannon Pak (81) finished 122nd.

Former Columbia County resident Ashlan Ramsey (75) tied for 39th for Clemson at 230. Former Strom Thurmond standout McKenzie Talbert (80) tied for 87th at 239 and North Augusta’s Jessica Hoang (84) tied for 118th at 252.
