Jaguar women golfers pad lead

In Greenville, S.C., the Georgia Regents women’s golf team shot even-par 288 in the second round of the 54-hole Lady Paladin Invitational on Saturday and extended its lead to five shots over Clemson.

The Jaguars, who led by two shots after an opening 285, set a school record for lowest 36-hole total with 3-over-under 573. The program is in its 13th year.

On Saturday, Georgia Regents was led by freshman Josefine Nyqvist’s 2-under 70. Senior Casey Kennedy and freshman Eunice Yi had 72s and Jessica Haigwood had 74. Christine Duschek-Hansen had the day’s noncounting score with 86. Shannon Pak, playing as an noncounting individual, had 76.

Former Columbia County resident Ashlan Ramsey, who is a Clemson freshman, leads the individual race after rounds of 68-71–139. Yi is in second place at 68-72–140 and Kennedy is third at 67-72–141.

Clemson’s McKenzie Talbert, a freshman from Edgefield County, is tied for 11th place at 72-74–146. Teammate Jessica Hoang, a freshman from North Augusta, is tied for 48th place at 79-75–154.
