Two Jag golfers off to solid starts in regional

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Augusta State’s Maverick Antcliff shot 3-under-par 69 and Alex Wennstam had 1-under 71 on Thursday in the opening round of the NCAA Tallahassee Regional at Golden Eagle Golf & Country Club.

Antcliff, who made three birdies, is in a six-way tie for for 14th place. Wennstam had three birdies and two bogeys and is among six players tied for 30th.

Of the 65 players in the field, 35 shot under par and 40 had rounds of even par or better.

North Florida’s MJ Maguire shot 7-under 65 and leads Georgia Tech’s Anders Albertson and Florida State’s Chase Seiffert by one.

In the team standings, North Florida shot 16-under 272 and leads Washington by four. Florida State is third, another shot back. Georgia Tech is tied for fourth at 280 with Oregon and South Florida.
