Jaguars' losing streak at 19 games

UNC Pembroke scored three runs in the eighth inning to break a tie and went on to beat Augusta State 7-5 in the first game en route to a doubleheader sweep Friday at Jaguar Field.

The 22nd-ranked Braves (35-14, 18-11 Peach Belt Con­ference) won the second game 10-6, scoring three runs in the ninth, to extend the Jaguars’ losing streak to 19.

Zade Denton homered and drove in three runs to lead UNC Pembroke in the opener. Hunter Boose went 4 for 5 with an RBI and JD Sabo had two hits, including a homer, for Augusta State (10-36, 3-23).

Josh Barks (0-4) took the loss, allowing five earned runs on eight hits in eight innings.

In the second game, Drew Alford drove in three runs for the Braves. Nate Crown drove in two runs and Boose homered for the Jags.

Kip Custer (5-6) suffered the loss, allowing six earned runs on 11 hits in 6 2/3 innings.
