Jaguars, Lady Jags pick up road wins

AMERICUS, Ga. — Ryan Weems scored 18 points and Augusta State downed Georgia Southwestern 52-43 in a Peach Belt Conference game on Saturday to win for just the second time in seven games.

Devon Wright-Nelson added 11 points and D’Angelo Boyce 10 for the Jaguars (12-10, 7-8).

Matt Shaw scored 14 points to lead Georgia Southwestern (12-12, 8-9).

PAINE 81, MOREHOUSE 74

Mario Jordan and Jerel Stephenson had 17 points apiece and Paine got back to .500 overall with a win over Morehouse (15-7, 13-2 SIAC) at the HEAL Complex.

Darius Smith added 15 points for the Lions (12-12, 10-6), who have won four in a row.

USC AIKEN 89, LANDER 63

In Aiken, Re’mon Nelson scored 22 points, including four of USC Aiken’s 13 3-pointers, and the Pacers (17-6, 13-3 Peach Belt) crushed Lander (7-15, 2-13).

Jesse Seilern added 17 for the Pacers, who have won eight of nine.

WOMEN

NO. 12 USC AIKEN 47, LANDER 44

In Aiken, Mia Antoine made a layup with 1:15 left to break a tie, and Porsha Martin hit two free throws with one second left as USC Aiken edged Lander to end a two-game slide.

Martin led the Lady Pacers (19-4, 12-4 Peach Belt) with 16 points.

Precious Elkins scored 17 points to lead Lander (8-14, 5-10).

NO. 24 AUGUSTA STATE 78,

GEORGIA SOUTHWESTERN 56

In Americus, Ga., Tanchelle Hollingsworth scored 20 points and Augusta State cruised to victory.

Tiffany Jaecks and Becky Newhouse added 14 points each for the Lady Jaguars (17-5, 10-5 Peach Belt).

Jasmine McSwain scored 18 points to lead Georgia Southwestern (3-21, 1-16), which has lost 13 in a row.
