Daniela Tarailo. The USC Aiken senior guard has stepped up her game to an All-American level after leading scorer Kayla Harris went down with a knee injury. In the past seven games, Tarailo is averaging 19.1 points for the Lady Pacers, who are ranked fifth in the nation in NCAA Division II.

WHO'S NOT

Barton College. At 14-2, the Bulldogs had a real shot at being the No. 1-ranked team in the NCAA Division Southeast Region poll when the first set of rankings are released (maybe next week). Then, they lost a pair of road games before falling in triple overtime at Coker.

BLAST FROM THE PAST

Former USC Aiken women’s basketball coach Phil Stern is in his 11th season at the University of Maryland Baltimore County. The Retrievers, the 2010-2011 America East regular season champions, are off to a rough start this season at 7-16.

MEN'S REPORTS

Augusta State (11-8, 6-6): Jaguars are 4-5 since their school was officially renamed Georgia Regents University a month ago.

Paine (10-12, 8-6): Lions third in the league with a .459 field-goal percentage.

USC Aiken (15-5, 11-2): A win today will go a long way toward wrapping up the Peach Belt’s East Division title.

WOMEN'S REPORTS

Augusta State (15-4, 8-4): Lady Jaguars need a strong finish (win at least four of their final seven regular season games) to make a solid bid for the NCAA Division II Tournament.

Paine (9-13, 7-5): After getting off to a fast start, the Lady Lions have lost four of their past five.

USC Aiken (18-2, 11-2): Center Tiffany Moody averaging eight boards the past four games.
