Augusta State baseball splits doubleheader with Carson-Newman

Augusta State split its doubleheader with Carson-Newman on Saturday at Lake Olmstead Stadium, taking the first game 5-4 before falling 10-0 in the nightcap.

The Jaguars (2-1), who beat the Eagles (1-2) on Friday night, claimed the season-opening series.

Junior Clint Echols started the first game for the Jaguars. He went six innings, allowing four hits, one earned run and striking out four.

Eagles sophomore Quinton Yocom went all seven in the second game, allowing four hits and recording five strikeouts.
