Augusta State men drop second in a row

DAHLONEGA, Ga.— Chris Tanzy had 19 points and 11 assists as North Georgia beat Augusta State 82-78 on Saturday in a Peach Belt Conference game.

Ryan Weems matched his career high with 27 points for the Jaguars (8-5, 4-3 PBC), who dropped their second in a row and had their six-game winning streak against the Saints (10-4, 5-2) snapped.

Devon Wright-Nelson added 22 points and 11 rebounds for the Jaguars.

Lamar Richardson hit six 3-pointers and scored 18 points for North Georgia. Scott Windom had 16 points.

In the women's game, Taylor Ayers hit a pair of jumpers in the final three minutes to lift Augusta State (11-2, 5-2 PBC) to a 54-52 victory over North Georgia (5-9, 3-4) for its third win in a row.

Ayers, a former Laney star, led the Lady Jaguars with with 14 points and eight rebounds. Eryka Menzies had 10 points, all in the first half.
