Vince Alexander. The Pacers’ head man became the program’s winningest coach with USC Aiken’s win Monday night at Francis Marion. Alexander owns a 131-87 record with the Pacers, 220-151 overall.

WHO'S NOT?

Chad July. While he’s been solid in rebounding, the Augusta State senior has yet to become a force on offense. He is shooting an atrocious 25 percent from the field (missing 24 of 32 shots mostly around the goal) and has made just 6 of 20 free-throw attempts (30 percent).

BRICK HOUSE

Augusta State’s 27 percent shooting performance (26.9 to be exact) against No. 20 Lincoln Memorial was its worst in coach Dip Metress’ nine-year tenure and worst in 277 games. The next team practice after Christmas probably won’t be a fun one for his players.

Augusta State (6-1, 2-0): The Jaguars’ 67 percent free-throwing shooting is the team’s worst effort in seven seasons. This team needs Ben Madgen, who set a Peach Belt record with 585 career free throws to return and give lessons.

Paine (2-3): Poor shooting and 23 turnovers prevented the Lions from upsetting USC Aiken.

USC Aiken (6-2, 2-0): Pacers shooting 80 percent or better at the foul line in their four-game winning streak.

Augusta State (8-0, 2-0): Taylor Ayers leads the team in points (13.0), rebounds (8.0) and blocks (16).

Paine (2-6): Lady Lions’ win last Saturday over Edward Waters gave the team a boost heading into the Christmas break.

USC Aiken (9-0, 2-0): Well-deserved break for the third-ranked Lady Pacers, who don’t play again until Jan. 3.
