Augusta State basketball picked second in Peach Belt Conference

Augusta State was picked to finish second and defending regular season champion USC Aiken was selected fourth in the 2012 Peach Belt Conference Preseason Coaches Poll.

Montevallo was selected as the preseason favorite. The Falcons collected five first-place votes and 139 total points.

The Jaguars collected seven first-place votes and finished with a total of 137. Augusta State had more first- and second-place (three) votes than Montevallo, which had five first-place votes and one second-place vote.

Of Augusta State’s other two votes, the Jaguars had a fifth-place vote and a puzzling 13th-place vote from one rival coach.

UNC Pembroke was third in the voting, one point ahead of USC Aiken.

USC Aiken received one first-place, one second-place, seven third-place, one fourth-place, one fifth-place and one seventh-place vote for a total of 128 points.
