Lady Jags romp to third win in a row

  • Follow ASU

Riding a hot stretch, Jemimah Ashby and her Augusta State teammates have a realistic goal in mind.

With the Lady Jaguars extending their winning streak to three games Saturday, they’re now in position to make the Peach Belt Conference Tournament for the first time in three seasons.

“That’s definitely an incentive,” Ashby said. “We all just have to accept the challenge.”

Ashby scored a game-high 17 points to lead Augusta State to a 63-35 win over Flagler at Christenberry Fieldhouse.

The Lady Jaguars (11-10, 6-7) defeated the Lady Saints for the second time this season. Augusta State began the day in fifth place in the Peach Belt East Division, one game behind Armstrong Atlantic State for fourth place – the top four teams in the division advance to the league tournament next month in Columbus, Ga.

With five games remaining in the regular season, the Lady Jaguars have enhanced their chances of playing March basketball.
