Jags might have tough time on road vs. surging Saints

WHO'S HOT

North Georgia men . The Saints have won two in a row to improve to 5-5 this season. All five wins are at home, which is where North Georgia will face Augusta State on Monday. The Saints might prove to be a tough opponent for the third-ranked Jaguars, who never seem to play well in Dahlonega, Ga.

WHO'S NOT

Florida Southern men . The No. 2-ranked Mocs (11-0) have struggled recently in home games against weaker opponents. Florida Southern defeated NAIA Freed-Hardeman (7-5) by six points. Earlier this week, the Mocs needed a steal and two late free throws to defeat Lake Erie (4-11). Florida Southern will be tested with three conference games in the coming week.

A SIMPLE REQUEST, PART 2

The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference has a major flaw when it comes to updating stats on its Web site. The Paine men have not been updated since early December. Same for other league schools.

Why is this a big deal? The few writers who do cover the SIAC strive for accuracy when it comes to writing stories and updating stats and standings. Too bad the league does a disservice to the teams and fans throughout the conference by not doing what other leagues do: update its Web site on a regular basis.

MADGEN WATCH

Augusta State's Ben Madgen, who holds a 17.9 scoring average, has 1,849 career points. He needs 15 points to surpass former Francis Marion standout Carlton Farr (1,863) for the Peach Belt Conference all-time scoring record. Madgen also needs 47 points to eclipse Derek Stewart (1,895) for the Augusta State mark.

Madgen will have three chances to get both records next week. After Monday's game at North Georgia, the Jaguars play host to Flagler (Wednesday) and Francis Marion (next Saturday).

ANOTHER RECORD

Madgen already owns the Peach Belt record for most career free throws with 471. He eclipsed the old mark set by teammate Tyrekus Bowman (367).
