Morris figured to be the next offensive star leaving campus after receiver Sammy Watkins and quarterback Tajh Boyd when the coordinator’s name was linked to several high-profile head-coaching vacancies for a second-straight year.
Instead, Morris said he passed on those opportunities because of his satisfaction since joining the Tigers after the 2010 season.
“There’s been a few along the way, but they haven’t been it,” Morris said. “The thing that we have is the family atmosphere and my family loves it here.”
Morris was chosen the American Football Coaches Association’s national assistant of the year last season.
GUY PICKS MADDEN: Former Oakland Raiders punter Ray Guy, who played football at Thomson, has selected his former coach, John Madden, to be his presenter during the Pro Football Hall of Fame induction ceremonies on Aug. 2 at Canton, Ohio.
GEORGIA STATE: Will play at Penn State, according to a copy of a contract between the teams obtained by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution through an open records request.
The teams will play Sept. 16. 2017.
The Panthers will receive $1.2 million for the game,which is tied for the largest pay-to-play amount for the university.
Penn State’s coaching staff, led by James Franklin, were guests at Georgia State’s football camp this summer.
Franklin and Panthers coach Trent Miles are longtime friends.
LOUISVILLE: Running back Michael Dyer is switching to Teddy Bridgewater’s old uniform number.
Coach Bobby Petrino said Dyer is changing from No. 26 because “it’s a number he likes” and he’s worn it before.
SANDUSKY’S SON: An adopted son of convicted child molester Jerry Sandusky is providing details of the alleged sexual abuse he suffered at the hands of his father.
Matt Sandusky, who was initially a foster child of the Sanduskys, told Oprah Winfrey in a TV show that aired Thursday night that his overnight visits with the family as a child were good “except for one part, bedtime.”
WASHINGTON: Former Washington football coach Jim Lambright faces a court appearance next month on an assault charge.
The 72-year-old was arrested June 18 and has been charged with fourth-degree assault on his 23-year-old granddaughter.
