The Georgia Regents basketball doubleheader against Columbus State, originally scheduled for Thursday night, has been moved to Sunday. Game times are 2 p.m. and 4 at Christenberry Fieldhouse. The Jaguars are still playing a Saturday doubleheader against Georgia Southwestern at 1:30 p.m. and 3:30.
USC Aiken’s baseball game against Belmont Abbey, scheduled for today, was postponed.
Today’s games in the Region 2-AAAAA Tournament at Greenbrier were also postponed. The tournament will now be held Saturday, Monday and Tuesday.
The Region 3-AAAA Tournament at Butler moved its remaining schedule from Monday to Wednesday. The tournament was initially scheduled to conclude today.
The Region 7-A Tournament at Aquinas was postponed to Monday and Tuesday, with Monday’s semifinals scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.
In response to bad weather and safety concerns, the Georgia High School Association announced this week that region tournaments can be completed as late as Wednesday.
Nationally, the storm forced the cancellation of major sporting events for the second consecutive day.
Georgia’s baseball season opener Georgia Southern, scheduled for today, was postponed to Saturday. The series will open with a doubleheader beginning at noon.
South Carolina’s baseball game against Bucknell was also pushed back to a Saturday doubleheader.
A pair of men’s basketball games featuring Top 25 teams Thursday were postponed – No. 13 Louisville at Temple, and No. 23 Southern Methodist at Rutgers. Both games have been rescheduled for tonight.
The men’s basketball game between No. 8 Duke and North Carolina was rescheduled for Feb. 20.
Officials at Clemson pushed up the school’s women’s basketball game Thursday against No. 10 North Carolina State 3½ hours to 3 p.m.
In Greenville, S.C., practice for the College All-Star Bowl game was moved back Thursday but the game is expected to go on as scheduled tonight at Furman’s Paladin Stadium.
