Georgia gears offense for quarterback Hutson Mason

Georgia quarterback Hutson Mason will have prepared a few weeks for his second college start in the Gator Bowl compared to one game week for Georgia Tech after Aaron Murray was lost for the season with a torn ACL.

Offensive coordinator Mike Bobo is trying to get Mason into a routine that suits him and his style of play.

“I still want him to be Hutson Mason,” Bobo said. “We talked about that a little bit today. ‘I don’t want you to try to Aaron Murray or try to be Mike Bobo. I want you to be Hutson Mason and we’ll do things to fit your strengths and you’ve got to be relaxed and play ball.’ ”

Bobo said Georgia will have its entire game plan in for Nebraska before the team wraps up its on-campus bowl practices on Saturday.

BAYLOR: Receiver Tevin Reese is getting the cast off his right wrist and expects to play for the No. 6 Bears in the Fiesta Bowl.

Reese dislocated his wrist when he came down awkwardly in the first half against Oklahoma on Nov. 7. He missed the past four games for the Big 12 champion Bears.

In seven games before he got hurt, Reese had 33 catches for 824 yards and eight touchdowns. The senior was averaging 103 yards receiving per game and 25 yards a catch.

Even with the cast still on, Reese said he has been running routes and catching passes this week.

Blake Anderson has made a habit of breaking records in his two seasons as the offensive coordinator at North Carolina.

The 43-year-old hopes to bring his style of up-tempo football <0x2014> along with a healthy dose of stability <0x2014> to Arkansas State.

Anderson was introduced as new coach of the Red Wolves on Thursday, becoming the school’s fifth head coach in five seasons. He replaces Bryan Harsin, who left Arkansas State last week to become the head coach at Boise State.

The Red Wolves (7-5) won at least a share of the Sun Belt Conference championship for the third straight season this year <0x2014> all under different head coaches. Auburn coach Gus Malzahn left Arkansas State after one season last year, just as Mississippi coach Hugh Freeze had done a year earlier.
