Senior QB James Franklin had 1,577 passing yards and 14 TDs before he got hurt.

Coach Gary Pinkel said Monday that James Franklin will lead the eighth-ranked Tigers at Ole Miss this weekend after missing four starts with a sprained throwing shoulder.

The quarterback had been enjoying a career season through five games and positioned his team for a win at Georgia on Oct. 12 before he was hurt.

Missouri (9-1, 5-1 Southeastern Conference) went 3-1 with redshirt freshman Maty Mauk, who had thrown three career passes before relieving Franklin against the Bulldogs.

The Tigers play at Mississippi (7-3, 3-3) this week, needing to win both in Oxford and the following week at home against Texas A&M to win the SEC East.

GEORGIA: Wide receiver Chris Conley gutted through an injured ankle to return Saturday after missing the previous two games. He had two catches for 24 yards against Auburn.

“He wanted to play, he played well, he made some great catches but he did some great things blocking downfield as well and he was also a tremendous leader for us,” coach Mark Richt said.

Conley said after the game that “I feel like I’m good enough at this point to go. I’m not 100 percent, but I have enough to contribute.”

GEORGIA SOUTHERN: Finalized its 2014 non-conference schedule with road dates against North Carolina State, Georgia Tech and Navy and a home contest against Savannah State.

It will be the Eagles’ first season as an FBS school.

FLORIDA: Might have to rely on its third-string quarterback for the second week in a row.

The Gators expect to start red-shirt freshman Skyler Mornhinweg in Saturday’s home game against Georgia Southern. Mornhinweg made his debut last week when Tyler Murphy was out with an injury to his throwing shoulder.

Murphy, who sprained his acromioclavicular joint, took over for original starter Jeff Driskel in Week 3. Murphy was unable to practice last week and is unsure when he’ll return.

WASHINGTON STATE: Extended the contract of head coach Mike Leach for two years, ensuring he’ll be at the helm through the 2018 season, athletic director Bill Moos said Monday.

Leach has led Washington State to a 5-5 record in his second season, 3-4 in the Pac-12, as the Cougars prepare for Saturday’s game against Utah in Pullman.

That’s the most wins for the Cougars at this point in the season since 2006.

UTAH: Quarterback Travis Wilson will miss the rest of the season after the team discovered a preexisting medical condition during a concussion diagnosis last week, Utes coach Kyle Whittingham said Monday.
