Winston was nearly flawless, completing 25 of 27 passes and running for 25 yards and a score as the Seminoles gave the Panthers a rude welcome to the Atlantic Coast Conference. Rashad Greene caught eight passes for 126 yards and a score and Nick O’Leary hauled in three touchdown passes for Florida State.

The Panthers had been pointing to the opener from the moment the program announced the move from the Big East to the ACC nearly two years ago. Playing in front of a rare sell-out, Pitt simply couldn’t keep up with the Seminoles.

Tom Savage passed for 201 yards and a touchdown for Pittsburgh but also threw a pair of interceptions.

GEORGIA: Kicker Marshall Morgan will miss Saturday’s game against South Carolina as part of a suspension for his boating under the influence arrest, Richt said on his radio show on Monday night.

Richt didn’t say after Saturday’s 38-35 loss to Clemson if Morgan would miss his second straight game due to suspension and he wouldn’t say Sunday night on a teleconference with reporters. He played coy on Morgan’s status prior to the game.

Walk-on Patrick Beless is in line to handle the extra points and field goals again after beating out Adam Erickson for the job in the preseason.

• Bulldogs freshman Leonard Floyd denied he faked an injury Saturday night against Clemson and said he didn’t intend to slow down the Tigers’ uptempo offense by falling to the field one play after taking a shot to the groin Saturday night.

“I couldn’t battle pain no more, so I just fell,” Floyd said on Monday night. “It wasn’t nothing to slow the game down. I was just injured and fell.”

MISSISSIPPI STATE: Quarterback Tyler Russell has a concussion and is doubtful for Saturday’s game against Alcorn State.

OKLAHOMA STATE: J.W. Walsh was picked to start at quarterback Saturday against Texas-San Antonio.

Clint Chelf started the Cowboys’ opener against Mississippi State, but as expected Walsh also played in the 21-3 victory.

WEST ALABAMA: Freshman defensive back Anthony Robinson was killed in a car accident.

School spokesman Kent Partridge said the 19-year-old died in a two-vehicle crash Sunday afternoon near his hometown of Linden.
