Syracuse edged Georgetown to reach Big East final

NEW YORK — Brandon Triche scored the go-ahead basket early in overtime and No. 19 Syracuse advanced to the Big East championship game with a 58-55 victory over No. 5 Georgetown on Friday night in the final conference clash of their storied heavyweight rivalry.

The fifth-seeded Orange (26-8) will make their 15th appearance in the tournament title game and go for their sixth crown tonight.

Syracuse held Georgetown (25-6) to 22 percent shooting from 3-point range.

In Chicago, Cody Zeller scored 24 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead Indiana (27-5) past Illinois (22-12) in the Big Ten Tournament quarterfinals.

NO. 4 LOUISVILLE 69, NO. 24 NOTRE DAME 57

In New York, Russ Smith scored 20 points and Peyton Siva added 12 to lead Louisville (28-5) over Notre Dame (25-9), the third consecutive year the Cardinals beat the Irish in the semifinals of the Big East Tournament.

In Chicago, Ben Brust scored 11 of his 14 points in the second half and Wisconsin (22-10) knocked off Michigan (26-7) in the quarterfinals of the Big Ten Tournament.

In Kansas City, Mo. Perry Ellis scored a career-high 23 points, and Kansas (28-5) pulled away to beat Iowa State (22-11) and reach the Big 12 Tournament title game.

In Chicago, Adreian Payne had 18 points and 10 rebounds, leading Michigan State (25-7) to a rugged victory over Iowa (21-12) in the Big Ten Tournament quarterfinals.

In Chicago, DeShaun Thomas and Sam Thompson had 19 points apiece, helping Ohio State (24-7) rout Nebraska (15-18) in the Big Ten Tournament quarterfinals.

In New York, Dwayne Evans scored 25 points, and top-seeded Saint Louis (25-6) pulled away early to beat Charlotte (21-11) in the Atlantic 10 Tournament quarterfinals.

In Las Vegas, Kyle Anderson’s putback with 22 seconds left gave UCLA (25-8) a victory over Arizona (25-7) in the Pac-12 semifinals.

In Tulsa, Okla., Chris Crawford scored 30 points, D.J. Stephens had 10 points and 10 rebounds after attending his grandmother’s funeral earlier in the day, and Memphis (29-4) reached the Conference USA championship game by beating Tulsa (17-15).
