Georgia women tops LSU in SEC Tournament quarterfinals

DULUTH, Ga. — Jasmine Hassell scored 19 points, Tiaria Griffin added 15 and No. 12 Georgia ousted No. 22 Louisiana State with a 71-53 win in the quarterfinals of the Southeastern Conference Tournament on Friday night.

The Lady Bulldogs (25-5) will face No. 7 Kentucky in the semifinals today.

Adrienne Webb finished with 16 points for LSU (20-11).

NO. 7 KENTUCKY 76, VANDERBILT 65

A’dia Mathies had 16 points and five steals and Kentucky (26-4) kept its lead in double figures the last 25 minutes of its win over Vanderbilt (20-11).

NO. 9 TENNESSSEE 82, FLORIDA 73

Meighan Simmons scored 20 points and Tennessee (24-6) extended its winning streak in the SEC Tournament to 10 with a win over Florida (18-14).

Kristi Bellock scored 17 points, Karla Gilbert added 11 and Texas A&M (22-9) beat South Carolina (24-7).

Ashley Bruner finished with 19 points for South Carolina.

In Greensboro, N.C., Tricia Liston scored 26 points and carried Duke (28-2) past North Carolina State (16-16) in the quarterfinals.

WAKE FOREST 81 (OT)

Alyssa Thomas had the first triple-double in conference tournament history, and Maryland (24-6) beat Wake Forest (13-19) in a quarterfinal.

Thomas – the league’s two-time player of the year – had a career-high 32 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists for her second triple-double this season.

Tierra Ruffin-Pratt scored 19 points to help North Carolina (27-5) beat Boston College (12-19) the quarterfinals.

NO. 23 FLORIDA STATE 70, MIAMI 58

Alexa Deluzio scored 11 of her 19 points in the final six minutes to lead Florida State (22-8) past Miami (21-10).

In Seattle, Gennifer Brandon has 17 points and 16 rebounds and California scored the first 11 points on its way to a win over Southern Cal in the quarterfinals of the Pac-12 Conference Tournament.

NO. 14 UCLA 54, UTAH 43

In Seattle, Jasmine Dixon and Atonye Nyingifa both scored 11 points, and UCLA held off Utah’s second-half rally in the quarterfinals.

NO. 21 NEBRASKA 76, IOWA 61

In Hoffman Estates, Ill., Jordan Hooper scored 24 points to lead Nebraska (23-7) to a victory over Iowa (20-12) in the Big Ten Tournament quarterfinals.

NO. 8 PENN STATE 76, OHIO STATE 66

In Hoffman, Estates, Ill., Alex Bentley scored 20 points, Maggie Lucas added 18, and Penn State (25-4) beat Ohio State (18-13) .
