Lady Lions close in on repeat in Big Ten

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. — Maggie Lucas scored 22 points, backcourt mate Alex Bentley added 20 and No. 7 Penn State overwhelmed Illinois in transition in a 95-62 win Wednesday night, moving a step closer to a second consecutive Big Ten regular-season title.

Penn State (22-3, 12-1) had a two-game lead on second-place Nebraska entering Wednesday night, with three games left on the Lady Lions’ schedule after the win over the Illini.

Adrienne GodBold had 17 points for foul-plagued Illinois (15-10, 8-5).

SOUTH FLORIDA 73, NO. 12 LOUISVILLE 62

In Louisville, Ky., Andrea Smith tied a career-high with 35 points and South Florida (18-7, 7-5 Big East) upset Louisville (21-6, 9-4).

Smith made 11 of 16 shots, including 5 of 6 3-pointers, for South Florida, which avenged a 78-75 loss on Jan. 30 to the Cardinals.

INDIANA 62, NO. 22 PURDUE 61

In Bloomington, Ind., Jasmine McGhee scored 26 points, including the game-winning basket with 1 second remaining, as Indiana (11-15, 2-11 Big Ten) knocked off Purdue (19-7, 8-5).

TEXAS CHRISTIAN 64, NO. 23 OKLAHOMA STATE 63

In Fort Worth, Texas, Delisa Gross hit the game-winning shot with 1:04 remaining and Texas Christian (8-17, 1-13 Big 12) closed the game on an 11-0 run to defeat Oklahoma State (18-7, 7-7).
