Cavaliers down Wolfpack for fourth win in a row

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. — Joe Harris scored 22 points, seven during a game-ending 13-6 run, and Virginia beat No. 19 North Carolina State 58-55 on Tuesday night, the Cavaliers’ fourth consecutive victory.

Akil Mitchell added 14 points for Virginia (15-5, 5-2 Atlantic Coast Conference), including an 18-foot jumper that put the Cavaliers ahead to stay.

C.J. Leslie, playing despite being under the weather, led the Wolfpack (16-5, 5-3) with 20 points and 14 rebounds.

In Columbus, Ohio, Deshaun Thomas scored 25 points, including 10 during a game-breaking 15-0 second-half run, to lead Ohio State (16-4, 6-2 Big Ten) past Wisconsin (14-7, 5-3).

In Wichita, Kan., Manny Arop scored 17 points to lead Indiana State (14-7, 7-3 Missouri Valley) over Wichita State (19-3, 8-2), snapping the Shockers’ 19-game home winning streak.

In Oxford, Miss., Kyle Wiltjer scored a career-high 26 points and Nerlens Noel set a school record with 12 blocked shots as Kentucky (14-6, 5-2 Southeastern Conference) beat Mississippi 17-3, 6-1), snapping the Rebels’ nine-game winning streak.

Archie Goodwin added 24 points for the Wildcats.

In Minneapolis, Rodney Williams snapped out of a funk to score 23 points and Minnesota (16-5, 4-4 Big Ten) got a much-needed confidence boost with a victory over Nebraska (11-11, 2-7).

In Chestnut Hill, Mass., James Michael McAdoo had 17 points and 10 rebounds to lead North Carolina (14-6, 4-3 ACC) past Boston College (9-11, 1-6).

Dexter Strickland and P.J. Hairston added 14 each for the Tar Heels.

Hairston was taken off the court on a stretcher late in the first half.

A school spokesperson said that Hairston was diagnosed with a concussion.

TENNESSEE 58, VANDERBILT 57

In Knoxville, Tenn., Jarnell Stokes scored 19 points and pulled down 11 rebounds as Tennessee (11-8, 3-4 SEC) defeated Vanderbilt (8-11, 2-5) for its second consecutive one-point victory.
