Who's Hot?

West Liberty. The No. 1-ranked Hilltoppers, (11-0) of West Virginia, the Loyola-Marymount of Division II basketball, are averaging 116 points a contest.

While West Liberty has defeated a bunch of bad teams, it did pound then-No. 8 Findlay on the road early in the season.

Who's Not?

Francis Marion. Patriots opened the season 4-1, loading their early schedule with cupcakes.

Now, Francis Marion is riding a five-game losing streak.

And the winner is...

Either Augusta State or USC Aiken has won the Peach Belt Conference the past six seasons, and that trend could continue again.

The Jaguars and Pacers are two of just three undefeated teams in the league (North Georgia is 2-0).

Men's Reports

Augusta State (7-2, 3-0): Shooting guard Ryan Weems, now in the starting lineup, leads the Jaguars with a 15.3 scoring average on 52 percent shooting.

Paine (2-6, 0-1): Sixteen or more turnovers each of the past four games is unacceptable for a team with hopes of winning the conference.

USC Aiken (7-3, 3-0): Junior forward Santoine Butler, of Augusta, averaging 13.3 points and 6.6 boards, along with 31 blocks.

Women's Reports

Augusta State (8-1, 2-1): Jemimah Ashby, who matched a career high with 26 points Wednesday, has scored in double digits each of the past three games.

Paine (2-8, 0-1): Offense has been in short supply for the Lady Lions, who have scored 70 or more points just twice.

USC Aiken (10-0, 3-0): Kayla Harris pacing her team in points (19.3 average) and rebounds (7.6).
